Too little, too late.

# The total amount of derivatives is estimated 
to be around $350 trillion. That number is something 
like 10 times the economic output of the entire world.
There are different class of derivatives, and one of the 
problems seems to be the fast and global propagation 
of stress (illiquidity, devaluation) across the different 
classes of derivatives, and then across the different 
classes of non-derivative assets (i.e. bonds).
 
The U.S. is in for tough times.
