[ExI] Frozen to minus 100F and then walks away

The Alaskan Upis beetle freezes at 18 degrees F, but if you continue to cool it down all the way down to minus 100 degrees F (-73C) and then warm it up again the beetle wakes up and walks away apparently unharmed. The insect accomplishes this miracle not with an antifreeze protein as Arctic fish do but with a sugar-fatty acid complex called "xylomannan".
