Hi John:

Do you have a mac? One-step DVD in iDVD which is standard on OSX imports the
DV files to the hard drive, converts them and burns to a DVD with a single
button click. All you need is an IEEE 1394 (firewire) cable. Once they're
burned you can manipulate the videos in the iDVD editor or use any of the
free software online to rip the DVD files and convert to other formats.  If
you're on a pc, programs like DVDsanta can also do it.   There's a free
version download here: (I have not used this version so I don't know its
restriction/limitations.)

There are also a number of free software program that convert directly to
flash. But you could end up buying one of these programs (they're not
expensive) as often there's a size limitation for converting files on free
versions of video conversion software. I hope this helps.
