I should expect hundreds of years. The US has something like 400 years
of coal reserves, and China has a lot too.

The article seemed somewhat limited in that it did not address
politically unavailable oil, like on the north slope in Alaska. That
could change the time tables a bit, even though the final outcome is
not in doubt.
