 I tend to see federal government as a body that makes, interprets and
enforces law, runs the military and some infrastructure, but that’s all.
Plenty of the social services stuff is done at that level, but I see all
that as the domain of state governments.  spike

The huge trouble with that model is that the ability of the states to
perform social services differs widely.  Contrast California and
Mississippi:  MS can afford just about nothing.  All the social aid comes
from the feds and if it didn't we would not have any social services.  Now
you may think that's fair according to your theory of gov.  But I think it
would probably violate the 14th amendment (I think that's the one) for
equal protection.  bill w
