Yes, there’s a better and more likely deal for the ruling class: continue with the kind of corporatist system that’s been the model in the US since the late Nineteenth Century. They’ll fine tune the details with secondary regulation, but in the main the economy is run for corporate and political elites. Every now and then, they’ll be crises — ones that aren’t manufactured — but the burden will mainly fall on everyone else, both domestic and foreign.
