I don't know how well the subject has been covered, but you should do a little research on it first. You're not looking to write a bestseller, but you should try to contribute to the subject, not just say what's already been said.

If you know the subject and are passionate about it, the process should be pretty straightforward and enjoyable. I'd recommend finding a publisher. It's hard for self-published books to get traction. And a publisher can provide lots of help with editing, production, and distribution.
