Speaking of China...
Question for the language model hipsters among us please: if every military
in the world is working on their own version of ChatGPT in their own
languages, how is that working out?
Reason I ask: those who have used English to Mandarin and Mandarin to
English online translators already know it doesn't work all that well, not
nearly as well as something like German to English for instance, or really
any European language to English. The Chinese language structure is
different from ours in ways far more profound than Yoda's oddball way of
speaking.
So... can we argue that the USA and Britain (and India? Australia, South
Africa? etc) are ahead of China and will stay ahead for a while because the
internet has so much English training material already available in a form
that software can use?
Howzat work please?
