How exquisitely embarrassing this self-preening denomination is. It somewhat
spoils the pleasure I have always had in reading Dawkins and Dennett.

(For me, there's a special irony in their vapid self-naming; I have a novel
in manuscript that so far hasn't found a home in the USA, titled BRIGHT,
which tenderly mocks the aspirations and flaws of a group of fandom-like
high-IQ-scoring characters. Guess I'm going to have to change the title to
QUIPU. Bugger it.)
