Especially if its a big honking 10-lb sledge hammer.  (As a teenager
I pounded on a lot of rocks with a sledge hammer...).  But sometimes
a good heavy axe or if one has to split wood a sizeable (and sharp)
wedge will work well in combination with the sledge hammer.  :-)
