You're not going to like this, but Hitler & Stalin
wanted peace (!),
they wanted peace on their terms. Hitler wanted to
kill off the 'lesser' races, Stalin wanted to kill off
the 'class enemy'. 
The author of "Pacifism as Mental Illness" was more
'realistic', he knows that war will continue
indefinitely, perhaps 'forever'.
 You take it from here...
