The Vehicle Assembly Building at Cape Canaveral was designed to take a
direct
hit from a cat 5.  Having seen it up close and personal, I have no doubt
that it will
perform as specified, with a margin of safety.  spike

With KSC preparing for Frances' arrival
(http://spaceflightnow.com/hurricane/status.html), one has to wonder
what damage, or good would come if the remaining three shuttles were
destroyed by hurricane or tornado while in their hangers. 
 
Would this necessarily be a bad thing?
