It seems that atheists - in the usual sense - do not
necessarily lack spirituality. My own experience has
instead been that most theists, especially militant
theists, lack an ability to understand the world in
the scientific sense - and, since they can not
understand it themselves, they ascribe it to an
inherently non-understandable entity, and thus
reinforce their position that the world is inherently
beyond all understanding. (Which confuses their
understanding, or lack thereof, with other peoples'
understanding, or lack thereof. Just because you
don't understand quantum mechanics, or biology, or
astronomic-scale physics, doesn't mean they don't
exist. In particular, it doesn't mean that the people
who claim to have some clue about them must
necessarily be wrong. It just means you don't
understand...and that does not have to be a permanent
situation, if you don't want it to be.)
