Some of the opterons may have a bug.

The background processes such as GIMPS and folding at home will
be able to discover stuff like this, because they run periodic
checksums to see if the answers make sense.  Over time, GIMPS
compiles a huge database which determines how fast each processor
does how much work, along with how many errors each accumulates.

After a few years, this database is priceless to the computer
makers.
