Although polygamy is still illegal in many jurisdictions today, there
is no way for the law to prevent people living together with multiple
partners without getting married. It is interesting that in general
people don't choose this lifestyle unless they are part of some
religious group that promotes it: they might have a series of
monogamous relationships, they might have secret relationships on the
side, but openly polygamous, polyandrous and whatever the term is for
relationships where multiple men and women live together are quite
rare.
