People today tend to make lot of fun out of these things. I really don't
know what difference it makes whether I say "Republic Road" or "People's
Republic Road", which is present here in my town (actually grandma lives
there). Or take school names as an example. There was 4th, 5th etc. schools,
now they are nothing to memorize. However, and here comes the fun: they were
renamed for communist leaders' names mostly. Just as part of the town still
holds the name of a great socialist. Or there still is a Moscow Square in
Budapest... This has no practical use but is interesting enough to mention
anyway.
