Anatol Zhabotinsky passed away on 16 September 2008 after a brief
battle with lymphoma. He was one of the founders of nonlinear chemical
dynamics, and the Belousov-Zhabotinsky reaction has played the central role
in the development of the field. After an outstanding career in the former
Soviet Union, where he was awarded the Lenin Prize for his achievements,
Zhabotinsky moved to Brandeis in 1991 and continued to work both on chemical
and biological problems. He was a Research Professor at the time of his
death.
