What would be then the rationale of extending the prohibition of  condoms to
intercourses between spouses (including when one of them got infected
without any guilt from his or her side, as a consequence of, say, blood
transfusion)?

In fact, from a catholic point of view there is no sin in consensually
taking your chances in such a scenario instead of opting for chastity, but
definitely there would be in adopting such a precautional measure...
