They say that but it doesn't make any sense to me. People believe in
their religion because they are convinced by the evidence: they read
the book, listen to the religious leaders, and they find reason to
trust them, much as they find reason to trust their family and
friends. No-one comes out and says, Obviously this is all crap, but
I'm going to believe it anyway.

It still amounts to an argument that the belief the world votes for is
probably the correct belief, which I don't think you really agree
with.
