Actually, the economies of southeast Asia, particular
that of Singapore, is far more free than here. And the
economic results speak for themselves.

And Samantha is right, the U.S. *used* to be far freer
than it is now. The 19th century showed the greatest
economic progress per decade of any since.

Alas, however, in 1855 the federal government began
growing steadily, and then enormously bolstered by
(i) the Civil War (ii) the New Deal (iii) World War
II, and (iv) the War on Poverty and the explosion
of new cabinet offices and regulatory offices since,
it now consumes about half of each individual's
income through taxes afflicting the economy at one
level or another. Yet even more power is wanted.
