I often hear this objection from opponents of geoengineering and it makes me doubt they really believe  what they are preaching; if they really thought that global warming was an asteroid crashing into Chicxulub level catastrophe its not credible that they'd refuse to even consider a solution because of the mischief a bunch of ambulance chasers might cause.
