The "psi" I speak of refers to (and my delineating of this certainly does
not mean I am anything but a curious skeptic) any unexplained cognitive
phenonema which are predictive or observational like those that I have
listed, some, like telepathy, being favored over sillier ones.

I know it is trite to bring up the whole "nobody believed regular physics,
and regular physics was right; nobody believed quantum physics, and quantum
physics was right" thing, but honestly, a mind too closed to at least prove
why they feel these things are impossible may not be expressing a truly
extropian mindset. It would seem beneficial to at least humor the idea,
given that its existence would mean a revelation in the intellectual
community. I am sure that all of you in the intellectual elect would be
able to devise theories or experiments to prove or disprove.

It's hard not to think "How could so many intelligent people think this has
value without it actually having value?", but then I think maybe it's just
some residual, romantic, magic-world security blanket stuck in my brain,
though I am a deterministic nihilist like most of you so I would hope that
is not the case. I'm not sure about this, but since when has that ever been
an excuse for abandoning intellectual pursuit? You have plenty of time to
speculate while waiting for the thread on Dyson shells to update, though I
would imagine considerably less time than waiting for the *existence* of
Dyson shells to update.

So--use some statistics and show why it's theoretically impossible, for
science's sake.
