[ExI] transhumanist as a philosophy

Question for Damien:

Is *materialism* a philosophy? Is it a philosophical system? (Perhaps 
these should be treated as two separate questions.) If so, what are 
its core texts?

I'd be willing to grant that transhumanism is not a philosophical 
system -- if that is taken to mean a system of thought that includes 
a large number of highly specific claims. I do, however, maintain 
that it is a philosophy, as well as an intellectual and cultural 
movement. (It seems a bit peculiar to me to acknowledge that it's an 
intellectual movement but not a philosophy.)
