Well, it is all about tring to bring one side of the Overton window

towards one's own extreme position - or claim a more extreme position 
than the one wanted, so that it has a decent chance of being in the window.

Transhumanism is also trying to bring enhancement and big future 
thinking into peoples's thinkable window.
