There was a copy set up at a conference I attended over the weekend, and 
I loved it. I've bought a copy and have started playing from the start.

There's not much transhumanism in it. It's a straight first-person 
puzzle solving game very much in the vein of Portal (from Valve and 
available on Steam, not the MS-DOS one you mentioned.)
