There is also the phenomenon of "mean reversion". If two people of IQ 150
have children, the IQs of the children tend to be closer to the average of
the population than of the parents. This suggests to me that high
intelligence requires the right combination of certain genes, and that it's
a delicate balances of parameters. When genes of two parents combine, the
result is more likely to throw off this balance and get a more average
result, than to get a more rare, but superior combination of parameters.
