I am reminded of Freud's assertion that the development of morality - the
superego, that is - stemmed from the evolution of prehumans.  Specifically,
he said that getting one's nose up in the air rather than close to the
ground developed a sense of disgust with what was on the ground.  So we can
thank shit for our morality.
