Speaking of the Thought Police and George Orwell, it would be entirely
appropriate for academics to have a strong bias against an Astronomy
professor who believed the universe was created on October 23 4004 BC, or a
professor of Evolutionary Biology who thought every word of the Noah Ark
story was literally true because, according to my Newspeak dictionary, the
best word to describe that sort of behavior is Doublethink. And that is not
conducive to competence or even sanity.
