I can't say I disagree with you, but I think the concept of original
sin was brilliant.
It is an observable fact that babies and children die, often quite
horribly, before they reach an age where they _can_ sin. If you
stipulate an all-powerful and just god, that should not happen. But
add in original sin and you have rescued God from logic.
I think science and medician are better than original sin for
explaining the death of kids too young to sin, but if you don't have
them . . . .
