This has to do with the so called "binding problem

As you point out, there must be something physical in the subconscious
representing what the subconscious knows.  The reason we are not
consciously aware of the subconscious physical information is because it is
not computationally bound into the "composite qualitative experience" that
is our composite conscious awareness.
