Food deserts are a real problem in the MS delta. Hospitals and grocery stores can't make any money there (theft is always a problem with poor people - of any color, if I have to add that). bill w

Food deserts in MS delta: they are better off than Chicago, because the south does not have the same magnitude of problem with severe weather. I have traveled thru Chicago in winter. Chicago O’Hare is a marvelous airport to have a layover: the food is so good there.

I watched the blizzards thru the glass from inside. The remarkable part was that the most memorable trip was in late November. I went outdoors just to experience the brutal blast of wind at sub-freezing temperature. That foray lasted about 11 seconds: OK experienced, didn’t like it, let’s get on a plane and go back to California forthwith. Oh evolution have mercy upon those hapless residents in the food deserts during the coming months. Supply chains there really need to know what they are doing to deliver supplies under those conditions. I suspect they will fail, resulting in fatalities. The rioters were not only committing larceny, they were committing mass murder.

I don’t know how the hell they are going to manage feeding the masses this winter. If they resort to supply trucks, what happens if starving masses attack? What happens in the homes of the disabled? Will some merciful person deliver stuff to them? What stuff? Produce?
