That's the claim, but I wonder about that.  Feeding the masses requires
growing at least one of rice, corn, and/or wheat in volume.  Almost
anything else can be dismissed as a specialty crop, given the relative
amounts grown (though sugar cane and soybeans are up there).

So then you get research projects like
