Those Teslas have an AC which works with the car sitting still in the
garage.  So if the electricity goes out and you have a full charge (or a
good-sized generator) you can go out there and get inside it, stay cool.
You can even sleep in the car: my neighbor did a few nights ago, said it
kept running all night.

 

This article is a bit of an overstatement.  The electric grid will still

Just not on really hot days.  But that is because shutting it down (as it
was today for several hours) reduces fire risk.
