Mike, it wouldn’t need to be dystopian.  If we set up a huge facility for housing out in Darwin, then we can demonstrate that housing is a human right: go right on out there and move in, free.  Free food, free dope, free everything.  It isn’t a prison: people can leave if they wish.  No need to check out any time you like, you aren’t checked in.  I will freely grant that it might be difficult: your car was stolen the day you arrived but there aren’t any fuel stations out there anyway.  You might be able to get friends or family to come out there and fetch you.  Walking out isn’t a good option.

 

But… why leave?  All the necessities of life are here and free, ja?

 

The Darwin option is a way to avoid the NIMBYs.  They won’t mind a bit if we set it up out there, because it isn’t really in anyone’s back yard.  NIMBYs would love it.
