Well, yes.

It has long been known that there are reasons more important than economics
to avoid a nuclear war.  (Insofar as, the consequences include a breakdown
of world financial markets, at which point most forms of economics become
irrelevant.  The US government's debt to the Chinese government becomes
moot if both governments cease to functionally exist.)

As the movie Wargames put it regarding the "game" of global thermonuclear
war: "The only winning move is not to play."
