He was charged with tax evasion in the U.S. and could have faced 30  
years in prison but he had not yet been convicted of any crime. With a  
good attorney, he could have walked free. Why would he not have risked  
a trial? Even if he knew he would be found guilty in court, why  
wouldn't he have waited and just committed suicide in an American  
prison? McAfee always struck me as someone more likely to get shot  
trying to escape from prison than killing himself out of despair in one.
