This appears to be a most rare thing: someone with enormous power
voluntarily giving up power.  By taking on responsibility, in the form of
accountability for enormous power, Musk is limiting his own power (in a way)
by volunteering transparency.  Musk just paid tens of billions of dollars.
with a stated goal of limiting his own power.

 

Has anything like this ever happened in history?  When?
