Long since deceased.  The tale was from the medieval ages - date
inspecific, but sounded Renaissance-ish.  It's easy to confuse her with an
inquisitor, but she was enforcing secular law.  In at least one case, she
subdued a bandit this way (after pretending to let him capture her), then
turned him in for a bounty.
