Do let me assure you Daniel, you did not offend me or anyone else here as
far as I can tell, nor did it appear that any such thing was your intention.
I have been on this list over half my adult life, 26 years. I have been
abused and insulted here, so I know what that looks like, but you have
always come across as a gentleman and good guy. Abuse doesn't happen very
often recently. Ours is a kinder and gentler list than in the olden days.
This is a good thing. We are less Drones Club and more Junior Ganymedes
than we once were. You are among friends here Daniel.

referring to Mc Donalds I was referring to what I vaguely remember reading
in an article a long while ago, that's all, nothing else...

Ja, no worries, McDonald's is often a whipping boy for the fast food
industry, because it is the biggest. Big number 1. It is good stuff, I eat
there often. Oh they have these soft warm fish sandwiches, mmmmm, long
greasy fries, those marvelous little cheeseburgers, junk food all. I agree
it is, but it is no worse really than the competitors. Maybe worse than my
personal favorite, Chik-fila, oh that is gooood stuff (you might be able to
tell I am hungry right now and have half a mind to get up and go get a
number 1 deluxe with all the trimmings.) Chick Fila doesn't sell beef at
all, which is why they have the cows who can't spell, urging customers to
Eat Mor Chikin and such clever advertising.

Cows are soooo stupid.

But chicken is slightly more environmentally friendly, and uses less water,
and oh they really really cause far less stink. If you have ever been
anywhere near a huge feed lot, you know wherewithal I speak.

enough to answer your question...

Me too. Watch what happens in the USA as more and more people recognize
what I was thinking in about 1994: a borrow-as-you-go government eventually
must face a day of reckoning. That day is very near methinks.

starvation.

a chinese restaurant. The amount of food I got was so enormous that I got
the rest in a doggy bag. Since I was travelling and had no kitchen in my
hotel, I was thinking about throwing it away, and a homeless guy asked me
for it. I gave it to him and he was genuinely thankful and actually a very
nice guy. I had very mixed feelings since I felt that the world should not
have to be this way (and no, I do not think high taxes is the way forward
here either)...

Do allow me to offer some grandfatherly advice: if you are going to San
Francisco... don't bother with wearing flowers in your hair. Wear a sincere
sidearm under your coat. Times have changed, a lot. San Francisco has
become an extremely dangerous place and is getting worse. Like New York
City in the 1990s, this city can be saved and I predict it will be. I don't
know about Portland Oregon, but I believe the honest people of San Francisco
will counter-attack and win.
