I agree.  The proposal is to turn plastics in trash into syngas before
they disintegrate to microplastics.

I don't think the amount is significant.

Landfills are a substantial source of methane which is a much worse
greenhouse gas than CO2.  I also wonder how you would collect enough
brush.
