To me, it is important to focus on a particular event, to know when that event happens.
I like to talk about when the last person dies, or when we achieve immortality. Isn't that what is really important, even though once we achieve that, subjectively, we will still have a lot of problems, and be a long way from anything infinite. Brent
Ja Brent I get that. What I meant was to come to an agreement on a version of the Singularity where survivors would know AI somehow took over and was running things, our computers don’t work anymore but everyone is not dead. Some of us survive, stuff is still coming to grocery stores, the orders are coming from somewhere, and they seem to be accurate, people are still getting paid and so on, but the people who used to do all that find out the system does what it does regardless of their input, weapons don’t necessarily fire when the soldier pulls the trigger, some people are mysteriously missing, and so on. It is a scenario where we know something important happened and we know when it happened.
We know that hasn’t happened yet.
