John, it isn’t dismantling the social and economic safety net, but rather transferring that net to entities capable of supporting it. The US federal govt is not that entity, for its debts accumulate. It is all it can do just to pay its debts. States on the other hand, can go bankrupt, for they do not print their own currency. They must balance their budgets. Consequence: they are not using up their revenue paying interest. So… they get their economic safety nets back.
I don’t think the singularity is 1000 days from now. I think of it as more like 5000 to 8000 days, in that range. The big US federal trouble is more like 3000 days from now.
