Ja. This puts the responsibility (and the ability) of verification on the reader.  This helps the reader develop critical thinking skills, healthy skepticism and discernment.  Now the world no longer has professional class of people who shape public opinion.  This is a good thing.  Now public opinion is shaped by collective public opinion.  We do not need or want an elite class of professional news reporters.  We want an enormous class of ordinary people who are volunteer news reporters.  Information wants to be free.
