Ja, but it is an important one, for it defines the limits of federal government authority.

and a practical matter, the Constitution means what judges say it means. And judges have no army or even police force to enforce their decisions, and He Who Must Not Be Named has already simply ignored the rulings of a lower court. He has not yet done so for the Supreme Court and he probably won't need to because the Supreme Court is now a wholly owned subsidiary of the executive branch.

Error? Kevin Clinesmith accidently inserted the word “not” in evidence?

Not buying it. The FBI wanted to get secret access to the email of staff on their political adversary’s campaign. They found Carter Page, who had businesses in Russia. Page worked with the CIA, who asked him to make certain contacts with the commies, which he did. The FBI has to verify with the CIA that their FISA warrant was not for one of theirs. The CIA replied that he was one of theirs. The FBI accidently inserted the word “not” and accidentally submitted the intentionally falsified evidence to the FISC, who accidentally gave the FBI a warrant to accidently read Page’s email, which included stuff from their adversary’s campaign (ooopsie didn’t mean to do that, kinda.)

The FBI got caught. The FBI never really did anything about it.

Consequence: the FBI was already partisan, but now, it must be assumed partisan. Every time the executive branch changes hands, the top management of the FBI and the CIA must be completely overhauled and replaced with partisan actors. This is a bad thing.

Ja, they were stupid enough to get caught.

>…But I am sure that is NOT the first time the FBI did something inappropriate, such things were rampant when J Edgar Hoover ran the place…

True enough, but oh boy did they get caught this time. Oh they got caught. It was late enough in history that we have nearly frictionless electronic communications, unfiltered, free, so we the proletariat can find out about it right away, without newspaper editors standing in our way.

I am now thinking Julian Assange was right all along: sunlight really is the best disinfectant.

Alternate scenario: the legal route. Donald J. Trump Jr runs, wins, appoints Senior as Secretary of State. Or JD Vance runs, appoints Sr to some post where he quietly runs things. I consider either of those scenarios far more likely than alternatives, but as a fun aside, watch the ballroom. A leader of the opposition party wants to make it a campaign promise to tear down the ballroom. Naturally the opponent would run on Save the Ballroom. With all the very real challenges, the crushing debt load etc, the next national election might be all about a building. Watch the ballroom.

Sheesh how did we get to here?

Julian Assange was right all along.
