Agreed.

Agreed.

Agree with almost all. California has ways to make sure homeless people can't vote multiple times in a single election. It isn't clear that it actually uses any of them, or if they do, why we see odd outcomes like the recent primary for LA mayor. Turns out voter verification really isn't necessary in California, for it is functionally a single party state.

But what if... what if a measure is on the ballot to charge billionaires a one-time 5% tax on their net worth. As it turns out, there is, Prop 40.

What if... suddenly and inexplicably in say 2028... millions of new California voters are registered, to post office boxes, with verifiable signatures, since they match exactly with the registration forms... and most of the new votes are for a party which scarcely exists in California. Imagine there are so many of these new votes that 54 electoral college votes move from this column to that column, and it reverses the outcome of the election. The guy who was urging a national-level 5% one time tax on billionaires loses. Most of the California congressional seats change hands, which completely changes the balance of power in the House. Every Californian realizes they are now equivalent to the Florida resident, a microMAGA.

Oh, but such a thing could never happen! Unless billionaires put up a lot of money for some reason, such as to defeat a national billionaire tax.
