I am watching this signal, for it has direct bearing on how I plan to bet in the coming year.  Adrian is right in that there are multiple reasons, however it understates the current situation to say there is no consensus:  the multiple reasons Adrian cited appear to be contradictory to each other.  This goes along with my own theory: the losing party has gotten too broad a coalition, and now it contains too many elements which are incompatible with each other.

 

In my own chosen party we are experts in that problem, for our factions are even more numerous than either of the mainstream parties and are even less compatible with each other.  If one pitches too broad a tent, it collapses under its own weight.  As we saw at the 27 May 2024 convention, the broad tent need not even weigh much to collapse under its own weight.  

 

The real problem is that the Libertarian party flatly refuses to come together and just do it my way dammit.
