If the election is blocked, the governors still send delegates.

The framers thought of that too Adrian.  That's the reasoning behind the phrase "... being necessary to the security of a free state..."

There is a reason why the country has been here for 250 yrs without a POTUS trying to take over the government.  It isn't because he never wanted to, it's because he cannot.
