>... The only thing with any effectiveness at all seems to be the continual
court battles that have been raging over the entire time Trump has been in
office...
Ja, so let them rage. Why is that a problem? We have people for that.
>...Bear in mind that every single one of these battles must be won in order
to keep your democracy from gradually turning into something else
altogether....
Well OK, they are won. So what's the problem?
>...If you're confident that every single one will be won, I'd just remind
you about the overturning of Roe vs. Wade...
Ja. The constitution doesn't say anyone has a right to a medical procedure.
I can't find it in there.
I agree we all have the right to medical privacy. So have the procedure in
private. No harm no foul.
>...and the dreadful consequences for a huge number of women....
Women can still get an abortion. The federal government does not have the
legal right to dictate to states how they handle that question however.
Overturning Roe was not about abortion, it was about the federal
government's right to dictate to states how they do medical licensing.
States make the call on that.
>...It might not be newsworthy anymore, but those consequences are still
ongoing.
Abortion is legal in most states Ben. There were not huge changes after
that decision.

>...Oh, and PS.: How did that "not" get into the subject title of this
thread?
I looked at the quote and realized the subject line as stated is false. The
following is not a suggestion for Iran to nuke San Diego or Los Angeles, it
is just the opposite.
"Just as I promised, I am ensuring that Iran will never have a nuclear
weapon.... But you want to see trauma, you want to see problems, and I said
it the other day, let them hit a missile into San Diego or Los Angeles on
the way. Let them hit - you want to see a horror show? You want to see
problems? Let them hit San Diego. Let them hit Los Angeles, and you want to
see some bad things happen, you want to see a country that would be in
freefall. We're not going to let that happen. We protect our cities. We
protect our country. We're not letting that happen."
>...Whichever, I spotted it and fixed it.

No Ben, I fixed it, you broke it. John will now say I am jumping to the
defense etc. Heh. John is channeling Meidas Touch, making the comment into
a political statement. Meidas is where I first saw that spin. But if you
read the transcript of that speech, the message was that the blockade is
expensive, but not as expensive as letting Iran get a nuke, letting Iran
nuke Los Angeles or San Diego. That would be a horror show. We don't know
what expensive is until we try to clean up a nuked city.
Iran has made no secret of what they have in mind. They want to destroy
Israel. The way to do that is with nuclear weapons, since most of Israel is
concentrated in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv and they can't do that with
conventional explosives. They would also like to take a shot at the Great
Satan as well. I don't think they would hit the west coast however. I
think it more likely they would hit Miami and New York, since there are more
Jewish people in Dade County Florida and New York.
Please read the quote and the subject line you "fixed" then make your case
please.
