BillK, it doesn’t say what about existing AI systems which already exceed human cognitive performance.  Does my chess program become illegal?  And do we need to reprogram TurboTax so that it makes as many mistakes as I do?  Those businesses which use AI phone software compliant under the regulations may discover new and interesting ways to lose money and customers.  How about the software that operates the Waymo cars, do we need to arrange for them to make the kinds of mistakes we make when driving, and does that apply to autopilots in aircraft?  

 

The mind boggles.

 

If congress passed such an absurdity, the current POTUS would veto it however.
