Keith I am entirely in agreement that abortion should be legal everywhere.  Before Roe was overturned, some states were doing the functional equivalent of making abortion illegal by compelling doctors who know how to do that procedure to go elsewhere.

Having recently toured some of the most backward places in the country, do let me assure you, medical care isn’t equal everywhere.  The federal government cannot (legally or in actuality) force states up to the standards you and I enjoy here in California.  For women in the Appalachian states, their best bet with a problem pregnancy might be to buy a plane ticket or get someone to drive them to Ohio or Alabama.
